About

I’m an architect, designer, artist, parent, and devout urbanist, who is always looking for the beauty in the everyday. I’m keenly interested in design, architecture, style and people. I live in Vancouver with my husband and kids.

My interest in design extends well beyond the built environment and encompasses product design, jewelry, crafts, as well as decorative and applied artwork.

Why am I blogging?

I blog because I want to share the things I love with other people… and because I have a lot to say about a wide variety of designs, design resources and designers themselves.  I also want to tell everyone about those unique people whose personal style strikes me as adventurous and fun. To me the design of our clothes and our homes is a beautiful and sophisticated way to communicate.

I find that design helps me to define myself and give my life meaning, character and direction.  Design is my compass and my inspiration, feelings that I know I share with many of you.  It is also gives me a knew and fresh way of seeing and being in the world.  Design is a window into our many ways of seeing and influencing the world.  It is always a positive force.  Design is life.

My blog is oriented to (but not limited to) woman of a certain age because they find themselves able, through the wealth of time and experience, to truly appreciate the beauty of design.  They have the life experience and confidence to go beyond mere fashion and find those things, be they clothes or interiors, that really speak to them.  They are uniquely poised to embrace both time tested vintage pieces and refreshing new trends.

With this blog I will share my style muses and personal inspirations. I am interested in the homes that might not make the magazines but must be seen, or the stylish individual who oozes “it”, and ordinary things that are inherently beautiful.

This site is not trying to compete with the mainstream media style-mongers.  Rather, I want to fill in the gaps, discover the overlooked gems and the quirky Salon des Refusés finds. I am building a community of interesting and interested people to share style solutions, recommendations, resources and ideas, and in the process, learn a few things about design.

I invite you to join me in this exploration of self through style.
